Dr. Joe Albert Garcia, Ph.D.
Background
Dr. Joe Garcia is a graduate of UCLAs clinical psychology program where he specialized in family psychology dealing with children, adolescents, and their parents. Dr. Garcia has published scientific articles in the area of treatment delivery and childrens mental health and continues to do research in the area of mental health economics with his colleagues at UCLA and Columbia University. Dr. Garcia completed a year-long internship at the Guidance Center (until recently, the Long Beach Child Guidance Center) and Long Beach Memorial Hospital where he obtained training in therapy for children and families of divorce, treatments for children with psychological disorders, and treatment and evaluations for children and families dealing with chronic illness such as cancer and sickle cell anemia. In addition, Dr. Garcia was trained in Integrative Couples Therapy at UCLA by Professor Andrew Christensen, one of the leading couples therapy researchers in the United States.
Clinical Services Provided
Dr. Garcias practice is devoted to assisting adults, children and families with pre- and post-divorce issues. He provides individual and family therapy for children and couples. He also provides extensive testing services for children. Dr. Garcia is a registered psychological assistant working under the supervision of Dr. Angus Strachan.
