Angus Strachan, Ph.D.Angus Strachan, Ph.D.

Background

Angus Strachan, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist. He has worked with families, including those facing divorce for the last 30 years, providing custody evaluation, mediation, parenting plan coordination and family therapy services. He has written articles and spoken frequently in the family law community. He is also an organizational consultant.

Dr. Strachan grew up in Britain and received degrees from both Cambridge and London Universities before completing his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at UCLA. He conducted research on family approaches to the treatment of major psychopathology (schizophrenia and bipolar disorder) in the U.K. and U.S., first as a postdoctoral fellow at UCLA and the Institute of Psychiatry in London and later as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at UCLA.

He is currently Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA where he teaches family therapy to child & adolescent inpatient and outpatient units.  Dr. Strachan has been Director of the Family Therapy Institute of Southern California and co-founder (with Ken Cloke and others) of the Center for Dispute Resolution. He has also consulted to organizations, performing organizational analysis and conducting selection and dispute resolution programs.
 

Clinical Services Provided

Most of Dr. Strachan’s clinical practice is devoted to families. He conducts custody mediation (pre- and post-divorce) and individual and family therapy.

Organizational Consulting
